This season is more based on the character of Francesca than ever before. Having lost her husband, Lord John Stirling (Victor Alley) at such a young age, and then finding out she was not pregnant with his child, it is a story of extreme heartbreak and sadness. She finds solace in her immediate family and John’s cousin Michaela (Masali Baduza), with whom she forms a budding friendship. In Season 4, Part 2, it greatly balances Francesca’s story with Benedict in the lead role.
Of course, readers will know from Francesca’s novel that Season 4 already covers a portion of it, when he was evil. This prepares the base. From the tragic loss of John to the arrival of Mikaela (the gender-swapped version of the book’s Michael), bringing Francesca back into the lead role for Season 5 feels like a natural progression. That said, it’s also possible that the writers could focus on Eloise for the second season, giving Francesca’s story some breathing room after such a tragic turn.

Eloise’s end is much less important than her sister’s. However, we have not yet received the official filming schedule, so based on the production of the previous season, we are assuming that filming will take approximately 8 months to complete. This means we expect filming to wrap up around January 2027.
Post-production is also an incredibly lengthy process, which will greatly impact the release of the fifth season bridgerton.
