We are just months away from returning to the Virgin River, a missed opportunity, in 2025. With a renewal for season 8 already in place, we now have some first production dates for the upcoming season, meaning we can more accurately predict when season 8 will hit our screens.

On our screens since December 2019, virgin river Becoming one of Netflix’s longest-running English-language live-action scripted shows to date, Season 8 is set to surpass Grace & Frankie and Orange Is the New Black, which both exited after seven seasons.

The Season 8 renewal came unexpectedly last July, shortly after Season 7 ended filming. Details were limited at the time, and at the time, we didn’t know if Season 7 would be included in that year’s Netflix calendar. Of course, that didn’t happen, Netflix confirmed during its next presentation on Netflix that the series is coming 12 March 2026. That premiere date also came with a new photo, although we’re still waiting for a trailer and official synopsis.

Season 8 will debut in late April, just a month after the season 7 premiere.

The production start date isn’t a huge surprise, as we covered a spring date for the season late last year. We learned this from a charity auction that gave bidders the chance to visit the set with Benjamin Hollingsworth and Zibby Allen, with the proceeds supporting Melanoma Canada. This provided a possible window of filming between April and July 2026, with confirmation that filming of the series would continue in Squamish, Vancouver and Burnaby.

It has now been officially confirmed with the official dates available online. According to the latest production list, here is the filming schedule:

  • filming begins: April 22, 2026
  • wrap filming: 10 August 2026
  • total filming days: 110 days (3 months and 19 days)

What does this mean for the release date? Could we see two seasons of this? virgin river Fall in 2026? With these dates, it’s possible, but we’d still like to put our money on the series returning in the first quarter of 2027.

Patrick S. Smith serves as showrunner and executive producer on the series, with the executive team including Thomas Ian Griffith, Mary Page Keller, Roma Roth, Richard Keith, Erin Cardillo, and Jackson Aaron Synder. Katherine Humphreys serves as co-executive producer, while Mona Meara serves as supervising producer. The writing team includes executive story editor Ildiko Susani and staff writer Rachel Borders.

No doubt we’ll get a lot more virgin river Intel is leading towards the release of Season 7 in the next month or so, so keep your eyes peeled.
