world of stranger things is expanding with a brand new animated series, Stranger Things: Stories from ’85is set to premiere globally on Netflix on April 23. But for the most dedicated fans, the adventure starts even sooner.
On Saturday, April 18, Netflix is hosting a special “Stranger Saturday” event that will give fans across the United States a chance to see the first two episodes of the new series on the big screen.
This is the second major time stranger things has been released in theaters, the Season 5 finale will be released in theaters in the United States and other select territories on New Year’s Day. It comes as Netflix joins theater chains with limited stunt schedules, though they have still, at least for the time being, ruled out any permanent move into theaters with strong windows. narnia The film is the second major Netflix project coming to theaters in 2026 with a planned Thanksgiving release.
Screenings will be held in partnership with AMC Theaters at 34 locations across the US, with show times at 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm local time. Additional screenings will take place at New York’s prestigious Paris Theater and the newly opened Netflix House in Philadelphia. As a special bonus, attendees at US locations will receive a special collectible item, which will be available while supplies last.

What is Stranger Things: Stories from ’85 About this?
The new animated series is set in the winter of 1985, placing it between the events of seasons 2 and 3. After Eleven closes the gate to the Upside Down, a sense of normalcy returns to the city. Our favorite heroes—Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max—are enjoying a life of D&D, snowball fights, and quiet days. However, peace never lasts long in Hawkins. A new, terrible threat awakens beneath the ice. Is this a monster from top to bottom? A mystery from the depths of Hawking’s lab? Or something else entirely? The gang must reunite to solve the mystery and save their town once again.
Developed by showrunner Eric Robles and executive produced by the Duffer Brothers, the series aims to capture the spirit of the classic Saturday-morning cartoons that many people grew up with, although whether or not it is canon is still debated. Some official articles from Netflix suggest that this is so, but it would take a lot of explaining to connect the dots and not leave extensive cliffhangers.
