What to watch on Netflix this weekend
People we meet on holidays (2026)
Rating: PG-13
Language: English
Style: romance
Director: Brett Haley
Mould: Lucas Gage, Sarah Catherine Hook, Tom Blythe
Netflix has been promoting its big new Emily Henry novel adaptation for quite some time, and it looks like it was justified, as the streamer has just confirmed that two more of the author’s novels are about to be headed for the big screen. However, before that happens, we get to go on an adventure with Poppy and Alex, two polar opposites who decide to pursue a romantic relationship after vacationing together for years. Will sparks rekindle, or will this end their relationship forever?
In our review, we gave the film a 3.5-star rating and called it a good start to Netflix’s 2026 film slate. We gave the MVP award to Emily Bader, who played Poppy, and concluded, “Ironically, or possibly by design, the film feels like it has all the elements of a real vacation: warm inviting locales, high altitudes, the excitement of the new, the joy of spending time with people you want to be with, the cool breeze of reality upon return, and the thrill of anticipation knowing you’ll get to do it all again soon,” adding, “Better a “beach read.” One of the romances that should satisfy fans of this genre, Bader and Blythe make a believable “opposites attract” couple, who is having the time of their lives, which is almost too good for January.

Some new series are worth your time this week, but for us, the debut of prodigal son What’s most exciting, albeit bittersweet, is seeing that the show was brutally canceled despite being absolutely brilliant.
Headlined by Tom Payne, the series definitely has the elements that made The Blacklist compelling. It follows his character, Malcolm Bright, an acclaimed criminal psychologist, who uses his unique insight into how killers think to help the NYPD. How did he get his best insights? He is the son of Dr. Martin Whitley (played by the great Michael Sheen), an infamous serial killer.
Running on Fox between 2019 and 2021, it is the latest television series from Warner Bros. to be picked up following the announcement that they would be purchasing the company and its assets late last year.

In one of many SVOD debuts for January, Netflix has premiered the action thriller directed by Kiernan Shipka, who longtime Netflix fans may know from playing Sabrina on Netflix. Sabrina’s hair-raising adventure Which continues to stream in its entirety even after its release in four seasons. It’s an incredibly different role for the actress who has been in a myriad of different projects since exiting the Netflix fantasy series.
Released in select theaters in November, chances are that most people have missed this film, so let us tell you. Shipka plays Fox, a woman who must infiltrate the commune to rescue her sister, who is imprisoned there. highly inspired by kill BillIt won’t win any awards, but it’s a fun entertainer and worth a watch, especially given its extremely short runtime.
