Netflix has just unveiled what new Indian movies and series are set to premiere in 2026. In this post, we’ll provide you with a comprehensive rundown of all the Indian movies and TV shows set to release on Netflix globally throughout 2026, plus other titles currently in development, and an update on other titles in the India slate.

2025 has seen some turmoil at Netflix India, with previously announced projects canceled and officially renewed series pulled from production at the last minute. A couple of in-progress sequels to Netflix Original films — Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga 2 and Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 — appear to be aiming for theatrical release instead of debuting on Netflix. But this is Netflix India’s 10th anniversary, and to celebrate, the Next on Netflix India 2026 announcement revealed a ton of information about previously announced titles as well as brand new Original shows and movies. 2026 could be a busy year for Netflix India after all.

Speaking at an event on February 3rd, Monika Shergill, Vice President of India Content at Netflix, said:

“Ten years of Netflix in India isn’t a milestone we mark alone. It’s a story we’ve written together with creators who took bold risks, actors and technicians who brought those visions to life, partners who built with passion, teams who kept raising the bar, and above all, audiences who welcomed these stories with curiosity and openness. A decade of streaming has reinforced a simple truth: there is no single way to tell Indian stories, and no single audience to serve. India is one nation, made up of many Indias. Our work begins and continues with embracing all of them.

As we look ahead to the next chapter, our 2026 slate reflects this belief, shaped by the clear ambition to celebrate, entertain, and salute India, one story at a time. It brings together established names and visionary creators alongside emerging voices, while expanding our canvas across genres — from high stakes crime and thrillers to family dramas, comedy, rom-coms, unscripted formats, and stories rooted in everyday life. Underpinning it all is a commitment we hold deeply: to empower India’s storytellers, nurture new voices and create stories that truly entertain.”

We’ve got details on 14 new Original movies, 17 new Original series, and 6 returning Original shows — plus info on existing series whose fates still hang in the balance and several other projects in limbo.

Editor’s note: All release dates and windows are subject to change.

Here are all the Indian Original series and movies we hope to see in 2026 or beyond:

According to Indian Express, filming of Accused was completed in early 2025 after a shoot in Poland. PeepingMoon initially broke the story that director Anubhuti Kashyap’s (Doctor G) film focuses on the relationship between two women, played by Konkona Sen Sharma (Killer Soup) and Pratibha Ranta (Laapataa Ladies). The 2026 Next on Netflix India event gave us more details on the plot of this psychological thriller:

When a celebrated queer doctor in London is accused of sexual misconduct, her life unravels. Now under a storm of suspicion and scrutiny, her marriage fractures and the truth blurs. Her wife must decide whether to walk away — or fight for the woman the world is turning against.

Adhure Hum Adhure Tum

News of romantic comedy king Imran Khan’s (Gori Tere Pyaar Mein) return to movies after a 10-year hiatus broke last year. His comeback project now has a name: Adhure Hum Adhure Tum (“Incomplete Us, Incomplete You“). A report at PeepingMoon describes the film — which co-stars The Royals‘ Bhumi Pednekar — as “a dysfunctional romantic dramedy, blending humor, heart, and relatable chaos.” Khan gave a status update to the Hindustan Times: “The shoot is complete and it’s in post production. We are looking at releasing it once the streaming platform decides on the date.”

Their latest movie Gandhari is action-oriented and stars Pannu as “a fierce mom on a mission.” Filming wrapped in March 2025. Here’s how Netflix describes this revenge saga:

After her little daughter is abducted in a crowded railway station and a brutal attack leaves her temporarily blind, a grieving mother must rise from her trauma and confront a shadowy child-trafficking nexus embedded deep within a town of shape-shifters and ancient lore — becoming a mythic force of vengeance to save her daughter and the lost children before they disappear forever.

Produced by Neeraj Panday’s Friday Filmworks, the movie was shot in various Indian cities in spring and summer 2025. That included Bhopal, where Bajpayee was spotted with co-stars Saqib Saleem (Race 3) and Akshay Oberoi (Fighter). Here’s Netflix’s plot description for the thriller:

“A bent police officer Ajay Dikshit’s (Pandat), plans an eventful and money-making night are disrupted as he finds himself in the midst of a global conspiracy while trying to unravel the identity of a badly injured girl thrown out of a moving car in the heart of Delhi.”

Following Khan’s recovery, filming began in April in Mumbai with co-stars Deepak Dobriayal (Sector 36) and Pratik Gandhi (Dhoom Dhaam). Producers Emmay Entertainment said: “Telling the story of the country’s first democratic election through the eyes of those on the ground has been both a responsibility and a privilege. The cast of director Suresh Triveni’s (Jalsa) family drama Maa Behen — which features Madhuri Dixit (The Fame Game) and Triptii Dimri (Bulbbul) playing mother and daughter, respectively — held a wrap party in October to celebrate the end of filming. Here’s how Netflix describes the dark comedy:

When Rekha and her daughters, Jaya and Sushma, the centre of all (controversial!) attention in their conservative locality, find themselves in the middle of a situation with a dead body in their kitchen, the perpetually struggling, constantly squabbling ‘Maa-Behen’ trio must team up to cover up the ‘crime’.

Actor Rajkummar Rao (Ludo) turns producer for the comedy Toaster, which wrapped filming months ago. Rao — who started production house KAMPA Films with his wife, actress Patralekhaa — plays a newlywed whose marriage immediately falls apart, triggering an obsession with a fancy toaster he received as a wedding gift. The movie also stars Sanya Malhotra (Kathal) and Seema Pahwa (Mai: A Mother’s Rage) and features a cameo by Rao’s Stree co-star Abhishek Banerjee.

Untitled KAMPA Films satire

The other film that Rajkummar Rao is set to produce and star in (besides Toaster) is still untitled. Rao and co-star Keerthy Suresh (Vaashi) kicked off the shoot in June, with Tanya Maniktala (Tooth Pari) shooting her portion of the film in November. Here’s how a source describes the plot of Sector 36 director Aditya Nimbalkar’s new film to Mid-day:

Their second production is a satirical take on today’s money-making education system. The story, in a humorous way, highlights how the field of education is all about business and profits rather than imparting knowledge and building the future of the country. The leads play educators, who blow the lid on the goings-on.

Untitled romcom starring Parineeti Chopra

There haven’t been any updates about this romantic comedy from debutant director Dhruv Tripathi since it was revealed near the end of 2024. Since then, star Parineeti Chopra (Amar Singh Chamkila) finished filming the new Original series Talaash: A Mother’s Search (mentioned below) and had her first baby, so we suspect she’s been too busy to complete this project.

Previously announced movies on hold indefinitely (if not officially canceled):

Naga Chaitanya-Sobhita Dhulipala Wedding Documentary – We specified in our 2025 Netflix Indian Original preview that it was only a rumor that the streamer paid an exorbitant sum for the rights to footage from the wedding of actors Naga Chaitanya (Thandel) and Sobhita Dhulipala (Ghost Stories). Well, the couple just celebrated their first anniversary, and Dhulipala marked the occasion by posting exclusive footage from the wedding to her social media accounts. Looks like a full-blown Netflix documentary was just a rumor after all.

Akka

A cast of killer leading ladies — Radhika Apte, Keerthy Suresh, and Tanvi Azmi (Tribhanga) — headline this new drama series announced at the Next on Netflix India event in February 2025. Here’s an official series description:

After originally debuting on the YouTube channel of Indian content creator Bhuvan Bam, Netflix signed on to produce a second season of his comedy-drama series Dhindora. Bam says of the upgraded new season:

With Dhindora Season 2, we’re returning to a world that audiences embraced with
immense love in its first chapter. What began on YouTube as a deeply relatable, character-driven comedy has grown into a larger, more layered story, while staying true to the humour, heart, and chaos that define the Dhindora universe. Bringing the series to Netflix allows us to introduce these characters and their journey to an even wider audience, while retaining the cultural specificity and storytelling voice that made the show resonate so strongly. We’re excited for both long-time fans and new viewers to experience this next chapter.”

The cast — which also includes Neha Dhupia (Single Papa) and Raima Sen (Mai: A Mother’s Rage) — spent the summer filming the series in Sri Lanka. This new show sounds intense:

A visionary billionaire grooms a rising tycoon to take over the reins of India’s largest conglomerate as his successor. Months into the top job, he is unceremoniously fired where the mentor takes back the throne. Refusing to accept his downfall, the ousted successor strikes back, turning a corporate succession battle into a no-holds-barred war. With a poster featuring contestants in pink jumpsuits, the reality series Lock Upp definitely looks inspired by Squid Game. However, the show’s producer Ekta Kapoor made a version of Lock Upp — hosted by Kangana Ranaut — that aired on the ALTBalaji and MX Player streaming services back in 2022. We’ll see how much has changed in this reboot, described as:

A captive reality format that’s made in India, and streamed by the world! India’s most newsworthy personalities are locked away in a new-age prison, all because they have been condemned in the court of public opinion. She‘s director, Arif Ali, returns to direct the new show, which stars Aditi Rao Hydari, Avinash Tiwari (Bulbbul), and Arjun Rampal (Rana Naidu). The series final shooting schedule took place in Mussoorie in May. Ali says of O Saathi Re: “It is a modern story with a vintage heart, an enchanted fairy tale set in the fiasco of Metropolitan life.”

Operation Safed Sagar

Confirmed for 2026

As part of 1999’s Kargil War, the real Operation Safed Sagar marked a milestone in India’s air warfare capabilities. A new Original series about the operation was made in close coordination with India’s Air Force, enabling director Oni Sen (Asur) to film on actual air bases with military aircraft. Billed as a noir mystery, Talaash: A Mother’s Search marks actor Parineeti Chopra’s first foray into the series format. Director Rensil D’Silva (Ungli) helms the show, which was shot over two months in the mountains of Shimla. Chopra’s co-star Tahir Raj Bhasin (Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein) says, “This thriller-mystery web series is everything you want from an edge-of-the-seat entertainer that will surprise you at every step of the way.” Here’s how Netflix sums up the gripping new show:

Tormented by yearly snapshots of her abducted child, a desperate mother discovers that the truth she’s been hunting for nine years isn’t in a far-off place—it’s buried deep within the secrets of those she trusts most.

Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web

Confirmed for 2026

Ace thriller director Neeraj Pandey (Sikandar Ka Muqaddar) takes another stab at the genre with a new, globetrotting series starring Emraan Hashmi (Bard of Blood). A desperate choice draws millionaire Zorawar into a devil’s pact. Tragedy and grief drives Samarjeet Behl into a relentless quest for vengeance. In between these two men, drawn into their spiral of conflict, stands Chahat who is seeking dangerous answers. Blurring the boundaries between morality and compulsion, this is a saga where passion and love collide and boundaries between right and wrong begin to blur.

Previously announced series on hold indefinitely (if not officially canceled):

Jet Set Go – Unfortunately, producer-director Karan Johar (Lust Stories) put this glamorous show about the aviation industry in the 1970s on hold because he couldn’t get the cast he wanted for the budget he was given.

Rakht Brahmand – Though plenty of footage was shot for the epic series Rakht Brahmand, a case of financial fraud brought production to a halt, perhaps permanently. Though show creators Raj & DK (Guns & Gulaabs) insist that the series is not shelved, production never resumed and the cast have purportedly moved on to other projects.

Officially Renewed Indian Original Series

The Great Indian Kapil Show (Seasons 4 & 5)

Season 4 of comedian Kapil Sharma’s celebrity chat/variety show kicked off late in 2025. Netflix now confirms that after it finishes its current season (which should run 13-14 episodes), The Great Indian Kapil Show will return later in 2026 for a fifth season.

Heeramandi (Season 2)

When filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali pitched his grand vision for his historical romance series, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos said, “Honestly, it almost felt like a dare.” Bhansali is currently working on his epic film Love & War, which won’t even release until June 2026. We’ll have to wait a while for Heeramandi Season 2, which sees the courtesans move from Lahore to the glamorous moviemaking hubs of Mumbai and Kolkata.

Kohrra (Season 2)

Confirmed for 2026

Mona Singh (Kaala Paani) thoroughly enjoyed shooting the new season of Kohrra — which debuts February 11 — opposite returning cast member Barun Sobti: “It’s been a very beautiful, satisfying, and challenging journey for me. This is my first time playing a cop, and there have been so many firsts for me in this show. For the first time, I’ve done action scenes, for the first time I’ve reported on duty—so many new experiences.”

Maamla Legal Hai (Season 2)

Filming was already underway for Season 2 of Maamla Legal Hai when Netflix revealed that Dinesh Lal Yadav (Ranbhoomi) and Kusha Kapila (Plan A Plan B) had joined the cast of the courtroom comedy. Here’s what to expect in Season 2:

Your favourite lawyers from Patparganj are back… except this time the leader of the pack, VD Tyagi is a judge! Newly appointed judge V.D. Tyagi comes face-to-face with the reality of being a judge, while the lovable lawyers of Patparganj Court bring bizarre cases, odd clients, and personal drama messier than the paperwork in this fun courtroom comedy, which is satya durghatnaon par aadharit (based on true incidents)!

Fans of the coming-of-age romance will get a chance to say goodbye to lovebirds Dimple (Prajakta Koli) and Rishi (Rohit Saraf) with one last season of Mismatched. Producer Ronnie Screwvala says: “Our collaboration with Netflix has helped shape a series that feels both personal and universal, and we’re excited to return with more of the emotion, chaos, and charm that audiences have come to love.”

The Royals (Season 2)

Showrunners Rangita Pritish Nandy and Ishita Pritish Nandy make this promise for the new season of the contemporary romantic drama The Royals: “We are thrilled to team up with Netflix for a second season that’s going to be bigger, bolder, and even more fabulous. Expect more fire, more feisty banter, and yes, a whole lot of drama. Because in our world, the crowns may be metaphorical—but the chaos is royally real.

Netflix Indian Series Cancelled After Official Renewal or Awaiting Renewal

An official renewal from Netflix used to be a guarantee, but we’ve seen at least two series cancelled just days before they were scheduled to start filming their second seasons. Other renewed series have seen their “It’s Official: Another Season Is Coming” tag — which all of the returning series mentioned above have — removed from their title cards, indicating that they may not be coming back after all. Here are the series that were officially renewed but have since been cancelled outright or quietly abandoned:

Several other series released in 2025 are still in limbo — neither officially renewed nor branded with the “Limited Series” tag, and without any updates or rumors:

  • Delhi Crime (Season 4)
  • The Game: You Never Play Alone (Season 2)
  • Khakee (Season 3)
  • Mandala Murders (Season 2)
  • Rana Naidu (Season 3)
  • Saare Jahan Se Accha (Season 2)

Here’s what we know about the remaining Original series whose fates are still up in the air:

The Ba***ds of Bollywood (Season 2)

Given the buzz around this series and viewership numbers that delighted Netflix, the streamer’s silence around a potential second season of The Ba***ds of Bollywood has been conspicuous. This show is likely a one-and-done because series creator Aryan Khan has feature film projects lined up that will keep him busy for the next few years. Given how many of the show’s dozens of celebrity cameos were due to the creator being the son of superstar Shah Rukh Khan, this isn’t the kind of series that can be handed off to another showrunner.

Dabba Cartel (Season 2)

Dabba Cartel ends on a cliffhanger, making it ripe for a second season. Stars Shabana Azmi and Sai Tamhankar both sound eager to return, but Netflix has made no move to renew the series.

Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives (Season 4)

Season 3’s Shalini Passi said in July that she was “getting ready for Season Four.” She might have a new cast member, as actor Govinda’s wife Sunita Ahuja says she was recently approached for the reality show.

Guns & Gulaabs (Season 2)

There’s been little news since Guns & Gulaabs was officially renewed in 2023. Back in April 2025, series star Pooja Gor told Times Now: “Hopefully this year, by the end of the year, we will go on floor.” We haven’t heard anything since, and the series’ title card no longer bears the “It’s Official: Another Season Is Coming” tag — not a good sign.
