The latest Anaconda brings a meta-twist to the nearly 30-year-old franchise. Following its Christmas theatrical run, we finally have a streaming date: While international availability varies, US subscribers can watch it on Netflix in late March 2026 – which is coming in much earlier than initially expected.

The official synopsis reads, “This is not a reboot.” CONTINUING“This is a completely original comedy, inspired by the cinematic ‘classic’ “Anaconda”, featuring Doug (Jack Black) and Griff (Paul Rudd), who have been best friends since childhood and always dreamed of remaking their all-time favorite movie. When a midlife crisis inspires them to finally go for it, they head deep into the Amazon to begin filming. But things get real when an actual giant The anaconda appears, turning their comically chaotic film set into a deadly situation.”

Directed by Tom Gormican, who also wrote the screenplay with Kevin Ayton, the film is based on Anaconda, written by Hans Bauer and Jim Cash and Jack Epps, Jr. It is produced by Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, Kevin Ayton and Tom Gormican, with Samson Muke serving as executive producer. The cast includes Steve Zahn, Thandiwe Newton, Daniela Melchior and Selton Mello along with Black and Rudd.

Now that we have a confirmed theatrical date, we can use Sony’s special streaming window to determine when the film will be released to domestic audiences. If you don’t fancy a trip to theaters during the busy spring blockbuster season, here’s when Anaconda will arrive on Netflix.

when will it happen Anaconda Are you on Netflix?

Netflix has officially confirmed this Anaconda Will come on stage on 25th March. Unlike other studios, Sony Pictures does not have its own dedicated streaming service. Instead, it has a Pay 1 Window deal with Netflix in the US and certain other territories, meaning its films go exclusively to Netflix after their theatrical and digital releases. The agreement will remain active for the US until the end of 2026 and will expand globally from 2027.

What makes this release date particularly notable is how quickly it is transitioning to streaming:

release format date wait time
theatrical release 25th December –
netflix premiere March 25th 90 days

Like all Sony Pictures first window movies, this one won’t stream if you’re on Netflix’s ad tier.

Historically, depending on existing agreements, this window typically opens 120 days after theatrical release. Confirmed arrival on March 25 means we’re only looking at a wait of 90 days. This quick turnaround is much shorter than traditional wait times, indicating a potential shift in how quickly Sony is willing to push major dramatic comedies to streaming after their holiday releases.

Once it arrives, Anaconda It will stream on Netflix for 18 months before moving to Hulu. That March 25 date also applies to Netflix India, though in other international regions, Netflix keeps separate windows for Sony movies. Sometimes this happens within a year of its release, while in some regions such as the United Kingdom it may take 2–3 years for it to be streamed.
