Emily in Paris fans won’t have to wait long for her next French vacation! Following the dramatic Season 5 finale last December and the rapid renewal in January, the future of the hit series has been a hot topic. Now, with the announcement of official production dates, the picture for Season 6 is becoming clearer.
In an extensive new interview with Ouest France detailing Netflix France’s upcoming 2026 slate, Netflix’s vice president of French content Pauline Dauvin provided an important update on production of the highly anticipated sixth season, suggesting it will begin in late spring 2026. Now we have official information that has narrowed down the timeline. production for The sixth season is scheduled to run from May 11, 2026 to September 30, 2026. As previously hinted, this schedule paves the way for new episodes to premiere in late 2026, but they are expected to premiere in November or December at the earliest.
This drastic change means fans should see Emily back on their screens by the end of the year. With a reported production budget of 3 to 5 million per episode, the series continues to invest heavily in its lavish aesthetic.
Where did we leave off, and what is Season 6 about?
Season 5 ended with a massive reset for our favorite American in Paris. After a temporary stay in Rome, Emily returned to the French capital, and ended her relationship with Italian fashion heir Marcello Muratori when she expected him to move to Solitano. Meanwhile, after working as a private chef on a yacht, Gabriel sends Emily a postcard from Greece, inviting her to join him.
Although an official, detailed synopsis for Season 6 has not been released, recent interviews with the cast and creators paint a clear picture of where we’re headed. Series creator Darren Star recently teased that Emily is firmly planting her roots. “She really chooses her own life and her own work in Paris,” the star told The Hollywood Reporter, adding that her heart is in Paris and it’s “not a temporary thing.”
As far as her love life is concerned, Lily Collins said that Emily is entering season 6 with a new sense of peace. “Emily is good. She’s fine,” Collins shared with Deadline, explaining that her character is actually more concerned with the new chaotic work dynamics at Agence Grotto — especially with Princess Jane stepping in as a co-owner to save the agency from financial ruin — than she is with her romantic entanglements. However, regarding a possible reunion with Gabriel in Greece, the star indicated, “I don’t think it will be an immediate relationship, although I do believe that people can find a way back to each other.” We can’t forget Mindy either! Despite accepting Nico’s proposal in Venice, her past relationship with Alfie promises plenty of unresolved tension in the new season.
The undeniable “Emily” effect
In addition to the release news, the Netflix France VP also highlighted the show’s incredible cultural and economic impact. While discussing the impact of Netflix in French regions, Dovin shared a statistic about the show’s impact on international travel. According to a study conducted by the National Center for Cinema and the Moving Image (CNC), 38% of foreign tourists visiting the French capital say that Amélie in Paris is one of the reasons why they decided to visit.
While the series has sometimes faced criticism for presenting a somewhat clichéd or stereotypical version of Paris, Douvin defended the platform’s creative approach. “Our main driving force is the story being told,” Dowlin said. “We are not here to give a negative or positive image of an area, but to tell powerful stories that impact the public.”
