Devil May Cry is a Netflix Original adult animated series created by Adi Shankar. It is based on the Japanese Capcom video game of the same name. The series is animated by Studio Mir in South Korea and produced by Shankar Animation.
The series follows demon hunter Dante (voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch) who encounters the White Rabbit (Hoon Lee), a powerful demon bent on unleashing the forces of hell on Earth.

The most likely scenario is that Devil May Cry had a two-season order.

When can we see its second season? Devil May Cry On Netflix?
We got the first glimpse of the upcoming second season on August 22, 2025 Devil May Cry.
During the 2025 Game Awards, Netflix announced that Season 2 will be released on May 12, 2026!

A brand new teaser trailer on March 25, 2026 Devil May Cry Season 2 was released.
Additionally, Netflix released two incredible posters featuring Dante and Virgil.
What to expect from Devil May Cry Season 2?
There’s a lot to see in the second season of Devil May Cry.

Despite Dante defeating the White Rabbit and ending the plot to merge Hell and Earth, Mary betrays Dante into letting his guard down and is incapacitated by the Darkcomb Warrior. His reason for doing so was that his blood and his father’s sword were too great a risk to humanity to be allowed to roam freely. As a result, Dante was placed on ice at the DARKCOM facility, and the sword and amulet were taken to different locations.

How will Dante survive? Will Mary, horrified by humanity’s actions and their war in the depths of Hell, come to her senses and save him? Or will Virgil become such a powerful force that mankind will become desperate and try to use Dante to fight his brother?

Kudos to Adi Shankar and the writing team for giving every Devil May Cry fan what they wanted from Virgil’s introduction. Dante’s older twin brother, believed to be dead, is, in fact, fully alive and has embraced the demon side of his heritage. With the forces of humanity waging a brutal war on Hell, Virgil is one of the commanders and strongest warriors on the demons’ side.
Unfortunately for humanity, Virgil is the storm, and the reckoning for their war is coming.

Is humanity deciding its own destiny?
If humans had left the technology developed by the White Rabbit alone, they could have continued to live relatively peaceful lives and only had to deal with weak monsters, whom Darkcom could easily eliminate. However, thanks to Vice President William Benes, humanity launches the first attack against the monsters and begins a war the likes of which has not been seen for millennia. This also means that all the leased demons who tried to flee Hell to escape King Mundus are likely to have a change of heart as the King of Hell turns from tyrant to savior.
Over time, his army will grow, and once united, humanity will see Hell’s true power and exact the price of starting a devastating war.

Will the next season focus on Virgil?
Given that Dante is under the ice in the DARKCOM facility, it could well be possible that the second season will follow Virgil’s perspective, how he escaped dying, how he came to serve under King Mundus, and the ongoing war against humans.
Will we see Nero?
We’ll avoid spoiling Nero for new fans unfamiliar with the Devil May Cry lore. However, we would argue that it is still too early in the story to see him, and depending on how long the series goes on, he could be the protagonist of a future season or even the next series.
