In a surprise late change to its December lineup, Netflix has confirmed The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 will be available to stream in the United States starting December 31, joining several other AMC shows that are available on Netflix in the US and internationally.
While the hit spinoff’s second season was conspicuously absent from the initial December release slate – leading many fans to dread the wait until 2026 – it appears the streamer is giving TWD fans one last gift to wrap up 2025.
Just a quick note that this article only applies to Netflix in the United States. The official synopsis hints at an “escalating war for control of Manhattan”, where Maggie and Negan find themselves caught on opposite sides. The dangers increase with the arrival of the New Babylon Federation, a powerful group seeking to restore the city to anarchy.
The number of episodes increased from 6 to 8 in season 2, with the series beginning weekly on AMC and AMC+ beginning May 4, 2025, and ending in late June.
Artists and new faces
With Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Gaius Charles Marshall Perley returns as Armstrong, and zeljko ivanek Croatia is back. Season 2 refreshed the cast with some notable additions:

In the third season, Maggie and Negan must overcome their long-standing feud to help create Manhattan’s first truly thriving community after the apocalypse. But as order in the city begins to crumble, the two are forced to confront whether they have truly moved on from their past, or whether old scars and dark instincts will bring everything crashing down.
There’s no word yet on whether future seasons, such as Season 3, will be a part of Netflix’s lineup. Netflix extended its relationship with AMC this summer, but the exact details beyond what shows were previously updated or debuting were largely kept under wraps.
