All 145 Movies and TV Series Blocked On Netflix’s Advertising Tier: January 2026

If you’re considering signing up for or switching to Netflix’s ad tier in the US in 2026, keep in mind that 145 titles are blocked (1.85% of the total library of 7,834 titles), making them unavailable for viewing. Below is a list of titles you won’t be able to stream on Netflix’s ad tier until January 2026.

Netflix’s ad tier, which launched in November 2022, particularly had some shortcomings. The biggest issue was that many major titles, including Netflix Originals, were unavailable for viewing and were still blocked. When the ad tier first launched, 5.1% of titles were unavailable (326 out of 6,324 available). a few months later, In February 2023, it was 5.4% of the library (348 titles out of 6,444 available).On February 7, 2024, only 175 titles were unavailable in the Netflix US library, representing a 50% decrease from the previous year, By December 2024, the percentage has decreased again to 151 titles, representing 2% of the total library of 7,381 titles (a decline from 2,1% in November 2024),

Why decline in December 2024? Most of DreamWorks’ interactive special ads were unavailable in the level and were all removed on December 1.

Let’s start first with the Netflix Originals that are blocked at the ad level. By 2025, peaky blinders Was on this list, although it is now available on all Netflix tiers.

The big catch in this category are DreamWorks Animation titles, although interestingly, gabby’s dollhouse Is not affected. House of Cards is MRC’s initial Netflix title, and they still don’t have the rights to show it with commercials.

Most of the movies on this list are ultimately controlled by Sony (and its subsidiaries, including Columbia, TriStar, Screen Gems, and Stage 6), which is especially disappointing since that’s the company Netflix has a first window deal with in the US (meaning new theatrical movies stream on Netflix first).

The other biggest blockers are titles associated with The Weinstein Company, as well as smaller distributors like StudioCanal, Canal+ and IFC Films.
