If you’re a fan of period dramas, you may want to clear your streaming schedule. Netflix US recently released a true classic of the genre: the universally acclaimed 2000s adaptation The Foresight Saga, Which is returning to Netflix after being away from the streamer for a decade.
Both seasons of the beloved British drama have arrived on Netflix in the United States, giving fans the perfect opportunity to relive the scandalous lives of the elite family or experience the sprawling Victorian epic for the first time.
It’s been a long time since this BAFTA-winning saga joined the US Netflix library. Longtime Netflix subscribers may remember that it used to stream as well. It was part of the early catalog and was only on Netflix US for exactly one year, coming out in 2014 and leaving in 2015. However, the wheels of this grand comeback have been in motion for some time. What is The Forsyte Saga About this?
Based on the Nobel Prize-winning novels of John Galsworthy, the 2002–2003 ITV series is a gorgeous, multi-generational tale of wealth, passion and betrayal. Set in late 19th and early 20th century London, the drama primarily follows a wealthy, upper-middle-class clan associated with Old World ideals.
At the center of the story is the cold, calculating and possessive Soames Forsyte, who treats his beautiful but unhappy wife Irene as just another piece of management property. The family’s strict adherence to social rules and status is eventually tempered by forbidden affairs, artistic rebellion, and a bitter, decades-long rivalry with Soames’s sympathetic, free-thinking cousin, Julian.
