2026 is just around the corner, and while we’ve already covered our most-awaited upcoming movies, what are the movies that audiences are most excited for? Does he know about any of this? These questions have been answered thanks to new data made available By Greenlight Analytics (fka The Quorum) what’s on netflix,

For those unfamiliar, Greenlight Analytics provides film tracking, research, and actionable insights to distributors and production companies of all sizes. So far, their research has focused primarily on theatrical releases from big studios, but they are increasingly moving toward streaming.

They’ve now provided us with their first wave of data covering streaming releases exclusively for Netflix, with their usual focus on theatrical releases from traditional distributors. We gave them several high-profile films confirmed or expected to be released in 2026 to gauge awareness, interest, and even theatrical intent.

But before considering the films the panel is most looking forward to, some quick clarifications. As Brandon Katz, director of insights and content strategy at Greenlight Analytics, says, streaming success is fundamentally different from traditionally released, box-office-focused films. Katz explains, “Streaming films require significantly less marketing runway than theatrical films.” “Early looks are typically unveiled six to twelve months prior to release…Streaming film promotional campaigns begin only three to six months prior to release.”

Based on the methodology and guidance provided for this data set, which tracks all moviegoers, not just repeat moviegoers, here’s what each metric shows:

  • awareness: This measures whether viewers know a title exists. High awareness is typical for larger franchises (e.g. narnia), but often less so for original streaming titles, where only limited news articles are released and nothing else.
  • Interest: It measures the willingness to watch a film after the person taking the survey is given basic information. This includes things like the synopsis, available cast, behind-the-scenes talent, and any assets that exist (like trailers, images, etc.).
  • Dramatic Intent: It tracks the specific percentage of people who say they would plan to see a movie in theaters if it were available there. This metric helps gauge whether a movie feels “cinematic” enough to increase box office traffic compared to simply being watched at home – really interesting for Netflix as they have an aversion to full theatrical releases.
  • willingness to pay: This is a broad monetization metric. It counts respondents who are willing to spend money in any form To view the content. This includes purchasing a theatrical ticket, paying for a VOD (Video on Demand) rental/purchase, or signing up for a subscription service specifically to watch that title.

Here are 13 movies we asked about:

  • top – action thriller from director Baltasar Kormákur, starring Taron Egerton and Charlize Theron
