After a successful first season, it’s no surprise that high-school sports romance anime, blue boxhas been renewed for a second season. Production is underway, and we expect the series to return in the second half of 2026.
blue box is a Japanese Netflix Original anime series and an adaptation of Kouji Miura’s manga Ao no Hako. Telecom Animation Film is the studio behind the production of the anime, with writer and director Yuichiro Yano.
Taiki Inomata, a new student at Emi Senior High, a member of the high school badminton team, is in love with Chinatsu Kano, a second-year student and the top player on the girls’ basketball team.

When is Blue Box Season 2 coming out on Netflix?
Netflix has confirmed that Blue Box season 2 will be released sometime in October 2026.
An exact release date has not been announced yet, but we hope to have more information soon.

How much of the manga has the anime covered so far?
At the time of writing, there were 196 published chapters of the Blue Box manga. The first season consisted of 79 manga chapters (volumes 1–9) consisting of 25 anime episodes.

How much of the manga will Season 2 cover?
If the second season consists of the same number of chapters and volumes as the first season, we would expect season 2 to end with the events of volume 18, which contains chapters 154–162.
We would guess that the second season will end with the events of Chapter 161. Manga readers will understand why we made this prediction.
