Italy’s most famous lawyer is back for her final chapter. Netflix has announced the third and final season of the much-loved Italian period drama, Law According to Lydia PoetWill premiere globally on April 15. Today, the streamer released the official trailer, poster, and all of the first looks for the final season which you can check out below.
The six-episode finale season will see the return of Matilda De Angelis as pioneering Lidia Poet, Italy’s first modern female lawyer. The final installment promises to bring a decisive end to her fight for justice and equality. Netflix first confirmed it was getting a (somewhat surprisingly) season 3 renewal in December 2024, and Next on Netflix confirmed a third season (not yet known as the final season) in 2026, with Italy’s 16 other Netflix originals scheduled for release later this year.
what to expect in season 3
The story begins in April 1887. Lidia’s brother, Enrico (Pier Luigi Pasino), now a member of Parliament, is working to pass a law that will officially allow Lidia to practice. Meanwhile, Lidia continues her relationship with prosecutor Pierluigi Fournu (Gianmarco Saurino), although she remains resistant to marriage or making their affair public.
This season’s central legal battle becomes extremely personal when Lidia’s closest friend, Grazia Fontana (Liliana Botton), is accused of murdering her husband. Lydia takes on the important task of arguing for self-defense in front of an all-male jury, putting her on a collision course with Fourneau, who is prosecuting the case.
The high-profile lawsuit brings journalist Jacopo Barberis (Eduardo Scarpetta) back to Turin, rekindling his unresolved romantic tension with Lidia. The final season will force her to confront her feelings and decide between two men.

Return and new cast
Fans are ready to return for the favorite show’s final bow. Along with Matilda de Angelis, the cast included:
- Eduardo Scarpetta as journalist Jacopo Barberis
- pier luigi pasino Enrico Poet as Lidia’s brother
- Sara Lazaro Teresa Barberis as Enrico’s wife
- gianmarco saurino as Prosecutor Pierluigi Fourneau
New actors are also joining them in the final season Liliana Botton as Lidia’s friend Grazia Fontana, and Ninny Bruschetta As Cantamessa, the king’s prosecutor.
The series is created by Guido Iucculano and Davide Orsini. The final season is directed by Letizia Lamartire, Pippo Mazpessa and newcomer Jacopo Bonvicini. The show is produced by Matteo Rovere for Banijay Group company Groenlandia.
The third and final season of Law According to Lydia Poet It will consist of six episodes and will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix from April 15. Here are all those promised first look stills:
