Tyler Rake is officially preparing for his next mission. While news of the third installment has been quiet since it was first announced at TUDUM 2023, we now have some updated production dates and filming locations extraction 3.
As per recent production list, extraction 3 Principal photography is currently scheduled to begin June 2026. Of course, this remains subject to change, given that we’ve been hearing for quite some time that production was about to begin.
Hopefully filming will continue October 9, 2026. While the previous films have used locations in India, Thailand and Prague, the third entry is going “down under”. Production is currently based on Sydney, AustraliaWhich serves as the home ground for lead star Chris Hemsworth. Additionally, sources tell us that some filming is expected to take place in Europe over the summer, though we haven’t received exact confirmation as to where.
The transfer to Australia marks a significant “homecoming” for both the production and its lead star. First extraction It was a gritty, sweat-soaked affair, filmed in Ahmedabad and Mumbai in India as well as various locations in Thailand to recreate the bustling streets of Dhaka. For extraction 2The production originally planned to shoot in Sydney, but was forced to relocate to Prague, Czech Republic and Vienna, Austria. Due to COVID-19 lockdown. Finally landing in Sydney for the third entry, directors Sam Hargrave and Chris Hemsworth are finally getting the Australian-based production they’ve been pursuing for 2021, presumably utilizing the country’s diverse terrain to deliver a fresh aesthetic compared to the tropical heat of the first film and the snowy industriality of the second.

Russo Brothers’ AGBO producing with joe russo Hoping to take over the screenwriting duties once again. Other prominent names associated with the project include:
- Manufacturer: Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Mike LaRocca, Angela Russo-Ottstot, Eric Gitter, and Peter Schwerin.
- Cinematography: Fraser Taggart (Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning).
- Casting: Sarah Finn (casting mastermind behind the MCU).
Expanded “extraction universe”
Netflix isn’t stopping at just one trilogy. are following huge viewership for extraction 2The Russo Brothers and Netflix officially confirmed plans to expand the franchise into a cinematic universe. In various interviews, Joe Russo has teased that they are looking to “find more interesting ways to tell these stories” beyond the linear journey of Tyler Rake.
Currently, two other major projects are in the pipeline:
- Mercenaries (TV series):Netflix has officially greenlit an eight-episode spin-off series called Mercenary. Omar Sy in the show (hip) as a new main character, a mercenary leading a mission to rescue high-risk hostages in Libya. Shorun by Glenn Mazzara (the walking dead), filming of the series reportedly began in North Africa in late 2025 and the service is expected to launch before Extraction 3.
- Tigo (spin-off film): Announced for late 2025, this spin-off film is set in South Korea and stars Don Lee (Train to Busan, Eternals). Directed by Lee Sang-yong, the project centers on Lee’s character, Taego – a former child soldier turned mercenary – who is on a mission of revenge through the Korean criminal underworld.
Given a final completion date of 2026 extraction 3We probably won’t see the movie hit Netflix until then summer or fall 2027.
