Production is currently in full swing for Netflix’s star-studded comedy fifth wheelAnd What’s on Netflix? have obtained exclusive photos from the Los Angeles set that reveal a major secret: Will Ferrell is stepping in front of the camera.
While Ferrell was publicly announced as a producer on the project through his Gloria Sanchez Productions banner, until now, Netflix has never officially listed him as part of the cast. These new photos are the first confirmation that the comedy icon has secretly landed an on-screen role – and a pretty stellar one at that.
First look: Will Ferrell’s secret role revealed
Filmed on location in Los Angeles (which doubled for parts of the story), the comedy legend was seen in a look that can only be described as “aging hair-metal star meets romance novel cover model.”
Ferrell wears a long, wavy blonde wig and a gray beard, rendering him almost unrecognizable. His attire suggests a character that fits perfectly into the film’s chaotic Las Vegas setting. He wears a crushed red and black velvet vest with sheer puffed poet sleeves, paired with thick rings and black leather pants.
Is he a washed up magician? A tribute band member? Or perhaps a different kind of “hot outsider”? Whatever the role, Ferrell is seen reading lines from a script, confirming his active involvement with the main cast.

What do we know about the fifth wheel?
The film, described as a “relationship comedy” and a “female-centric story”, is expected to arrive on Netflix in 2027. written by Paula Pell (Sisters, AP Bio) And Janine BritoThe story follows a group of high school best friends who attempt to reconnect during a weekend trip to Las Vegas. However, when a “hot outsider” crashes the weekend away, the group is forced to confront their messy lives, bad decisions, and unraveling friendships.
