Brooklyn Nine-Nine has quietly become one of Netflix’s most-watched cozy comedies, clocking in at an astonishing 2.4 billion hours between 2023 and 2025, but now the platform is slowly losing it, at least in the US. What previously looked like a routine catalog refresh has revealed a strange licensing pattern, where seasons are being rotated out as new seasons arrive, meaning shows are gradually disappearing from Netflix US rather than remaining available entirely. Next refresh will be February 2026.
The show doesn’t make headlines on Netflix to any great extent, but quietly garners a lot of viewers in the United States and around the world. According to a Netflix engagement report covering viewership from the beginning of 2023 to the end of 2025, all eight seasons have collectively attracted 2.4 billion hours were watched, which translated to 334.6 million views in that period.

Quickly, a rewind: brooklyn nine-nine It debuted on Netflix US on February 26, 2024, with seasons 1-4. A year later, in January 2025, Netflix picked up seasons 5 and 6, but at the expense of seasons 1 and 2.
Now we are seeing a similar “two in, two out” situation again in February 2026.

Our understanding is that seasons 5 and 6 will depart in February 2027, and seasons 7 and 9 will depart a year later, in 2028. Licensing like this is unusual for Netflix, which typically opts to stream all seasons simultaneously.
As you can probably guess, the Peacock remains the best place for entertainment during the show. All eight seasons are available there, at both premium and free tiers.
What about Netflix internationally?
Internationally, where the show was streamed exclusively on Netflix throughout its run, Netflix has all eight seasons.
Our understanding is that Netflix has the licenses for all seasons in these territories until April 2028, so another two years at the time of publishing.
