More HBO Max titles are heading to Netflix! Warner Bros. Discovery’s next major contribution is a genre-oriented, critically acclaimed cult hit search partyWhich is going to come to America in early February.
First airing on TNT for two seasons in 2016 before getting a dual-release for Season 3 on HBO Max, then, a split release for Season 4 and a re-run on Season 5, the dark comedy is one of those shows that has defined how good and consistent titles Warner Bros. Television has been able to make over the years, even if they don’t get huge global audiences.

The addition to Netflix is a welcome one, as the show was one of several proprietary titles that were unceremoniously removed from HBO Max, with most reports and online discussions rife that it was Shocked in the summer of 2025,
This continues Netflix’s licensing partnership with Warner Bros. Television and HBO and HBO Max, which has grown significantly in recent years and will no doubt continue to grow as Netflix acquires Warner Bros. and its studios.
What is search party About this?
Created by Sarah-Violet Bliss, Charles Rogers and Michael Showalter, the series begins as a hipster noir. It follows Dori Seiff, a fragile, depressed twenty-year-old living in Brooklyn who becomes obsessed with the disappearance of Chantal Witherbottom, a college acquaintance she barely knew.
Dory drags her self-absorbed friends into a tangled investigation, but what starts out as a quirky mystery quickly turns into a dark thriller involving murder, cover-ups, court trials, and ultimately… well, let’s just say that’s where things end up. Strange In later seasons.
The official synopsis for Season 1 is as follows:
“Search Party centers on Dory (Alia Shawkat), a fragile, depressed, life-long doormat who isn’t particularly proud of her impact on the world, mostly because she doesn’t have one. Dory becomes obsessed with the disappearance of a college acquaintance, Chantal Witherbottom, which leads her and her friends down a dark path.”
search party It’s rare that it successfully changes genres every season, from mystery to Hitchcockian thriller to courtroom drama to psychological horror, while still maintaining its comedy roots.
