Netflix adaptation of Shelby Van Pelt’s novel remarkably bright creatures The official release date is: May 2026. The new film is headlined by Sally Field, Lewis Pullman and Colm Meaney.
Netflix has recently announced its new movie, Remarkably bright creatures, will be Released on May 8, 2026. Filming took place in Vancouver, Canada from March to May last year.
Olivia Newman, who previously directed Where the crawdads sing, rudder remarkably bright creatures For Netflix. It is Newman’s second feature film on Netflix, as he previously directed the sports drama first match,
The project is written by Olivia Newman and John Whittington, and produced by Brian Unkless and Peter Craig for Nite Owl, along with David Levine for Anonymous Content. Executive producers include Alyssa Rodriguez for Night Owl, Tony Lipp, Erica Hampson, Olivia Newman, Shelby Van Pelt and Alissa Tager for Anonymous Content.

News of the release date came after the film received an official PG-13 rating in December. Per FilmRatings.comIt is rated PG-13 for “thematic material, some strong language, suggestive references and brief drug use.”

“Towa, an elderly widow, forms an unlikely friendship with the stubborn Marcellus – a giant Pacific octopus who lives in the aquarium where she works. Unbeknownst to Tova, Marcellus is on a mission to solve a mystery that will heal the widow’s heart and lead her to a life-changing discovery.”
As mentioned earlier, it is an adaptation of Shelby Van Pelt’s 2022 novel of the same name.
