Tyler Perry is one of Netflix’s most active creators, with an incredible amount of output for one person, even not counting the many projects he’s done outside of Netflix. His latest project, is called Joe’s college road trip, Release date to be confirmed in February 2026.
Created, produced, written by and starring Tyler Perry, joe college road trip Officially coming to Netflix on February 13, 2026, the streamer confirmed this at its Next on Netflix event. The film is co-produced by Perry’s longtime collaborator Agni Bones. It has been a long time, we will consider this project for the first time in December 2023.

In an effort to teach him about the real world, Joe B.J. on a cross-country college road trip where tensions run high but life-changing lessons are learned.
It’s actually very brief, which is why we’ll also attach an earlier, more detailed summary that we had from 2023, when the project was being prepared for production:
“Realizing that he has sheltered his son for too long, Brian reluctantly agrees to send his son B.J. on a college tour with his grandfather, in the hopes that Joe can teach him a thing or two about black history and the real world – ideally without killing both of them in the process. As the two move forward, generations collide and they soon find themselves in trouble. But somewhere along the way, B.J. has to face the consequences of the generations that came before him. But he gets a new perspective, and he appreciates his Grandpa Joe…”
