Blood Coast Season 3 Renewed on Netflix

Following its return in early December, six episodes of Blood Coast (Pax Massilia) further deepened the mythology of the Marseille crime drama. Directed entirely by Olivier Maréchal, the new episodes were co-written by veteran showrunner Olivier Dujols and returning writers from Season 1.

While the second season was shot extensively throughout Marseille and its surrounding areas, fans can no longer wonder whether the Gaumont Television-produced drama has any future. It’s now official: Season 3 is happening.

The announcement comes just a month after the sophomore season is set to debut in December 2025, marking a quick turnaround that suggests a strong performance for the French thriller.

Before this official greenlight, all signs were pointing towards a renewal. Producer Olivier Martial had previously hinted at a third season during a media appearance, saying on December 15 at TĂ©lĂ©-Loisir that “Season 3 will be even better! We’re planning to shoot abroad, but I can’t reveal more.”

Recent reports from La Provence also confirmed that scripts were already in development, a tactic often used by Netflix to reduce the waiting time between seasons for its hit shows.

However, how long the show lasts is a different story. It is no secret that the show has significantly decreased its viewership between Seasons 1 and 2, with Season 2 containing the top 10 for 2 weeks, equating to 19.6 million viewing hours and 3.8 million complete viewings, which is approximately 60% less than the previous season. The show this time entered the weekly top 10 in 11 countries, including France for 3 weeks. For comparison, Season 1 appeared in the weekly charts of 70 countries.

Production appears set to ramp up immediately. A few days before the premiere of Season 2, casting calls went out for additional actors in the Marseille area for dates between January and May 2026, which coincides perfectly with this renewal news. With Martial now a resident of Marseille and deeply connected to the city’s gritty backdrop, viewers can expect the next chapter to maintain the show’s signature intensity.
