Charlize Theron & Taron Egerton Movie ‘APEX’ Sets April 2026 Netflix Premiere

Charlize Theron’s new first look has been released, fresh from her return old guard The sequel, starring Eric Bana, who recently appeared in Netflix’s 2025 series indomitableAnd Taron Egerton was last seen on the streamer carry onTrio Star in Baltasar Kormakur’s 2026 Netflix Survival Thriller topSet to debut this spring.

people.com Got an exclusive first look at the new film, which is now confirmed to have its global premiere on April 24, 2026. He spoke to Theron about the role and described it as one of her most physically demanding roles to date, less about the fight choreography and more about extreme stamina and survival.

“In this case, I was climbing a lot. I was climbing pretty much every day,” she told the outlet, explaining that once production moved to Australia, kayaking also became part of her daily routine. Theron emphasized that she did the climbing herself, saying, “I climb all the real mountains in the movie. I’m climbing all of them, and I’m climbing it barefoot on my raw feet.” Despite the intensity, she said the role marked her first real experience with climbing other than “climbing trees when I was a kid in Africa”, calling the process “a lot of fun”.

Theron also talked about the difficult shoot and the collaborators who made it worthwhile, noting that filming often required the cast and crew to travel to remote Australian locations. He praised director Baltasar Kormákur’s no-shortcuts approach and said that Apex finally allowed him to work with Eric Bana after missing out on it for several years. “I’ve been trying to work with Eric for over 20 years,” she said. “We’ve literally pitched each other on projects and it’s never worked out, so it was kind of a no-brainer… She’s amazing in the film.”

The film is directed by Baltasar Kormákur, who also serves as a producer, and the screenplay is written by Jeremy Robbins. The film is produced by Peter Chernin, Geno Topping, David Ready, Ian Brice, Charlize Theron, AJ Dix and Beth Kono. Leading the cast, Charlize Theron played Sasha, Taron Egerton played Ben and Eric Bana played Tommy.
