Body is an upcoming Netflix Original coming-of-age thriller series created and written by showrunner Quinn Shepherd. Shepherd also directed the first episode and served as executive producer with a heavyweight team including Peter Chernin, Amy Israel, and Riley Keough.

Described by Netflix as a drama that blends elements of “Catholic horror,” “suspense,” and “raucous teen psychodrama,” Shepherd provided more insight into the series’ distinctive tone, calling it a “love letter” to the ’90s and the Y2K era:

“I’ve always been interested in the idea of boyhood as a religious experience. This story is definitely my way of putting a playful twist on all the nightmares of my own adolescence. […] Movies like Carrie, Jennifer’s Body, Heavenly Creatures, and even Mean Girls [are all inspirations]But with a grounded lens. I was also a teenager and had embarrassingly deep concerns over The Crucible and the Salem Witch Trials. It’s been very interesting to revisit this given our current political climate!”

The project is being constructed by The North Road Company and Felix Culpa. Executive producers include Amy Israel, Peter Chernin, Josh Stern and Blair Briard for North Road, with Riley Keough, Gina Gammell and Sacha Ben Haroche representing Felix Culpa. Jennifer Morden serves as production designer.
